Marrakesh Biking Tour

We are thrilled to offer a unique opportunity for ICUH 2024 attendees to explore the vibrant city of Marrakesh on two wheels!

In partnership with Pikala, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting sustainable mobility and youth empowerment through cycling, we are hosting a complimentary 1.5-hour bike tour on Thursday, November 21, from 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm.

About Pikala:

Pikala is much more than just a bike rental service—founded with a mission to encourage eco-friendly transportation and provide vocational training for Moroccan youth, Pikala has become a beloved part of the Marrakesh community. They repair and rent out bicycles, offer guided tours, and run a café in the heart of the Medina, all while empowering local young people with valuable skills in tourism, bicycle mechanics, and hospitality.

The Bike Tour:

Guided by a local Moroccan tour guide, you will cycle through palm trees and a desert-like landscape to discover the hidden beauties of “La Palmeraie”, an oasis close to Marrakech. Our guide will tell you about the history of La Palmeraie and how the Moroccans have been surviving there the last 1000 years.

During the tour we will make several stops at special places, such as an old traditional Tadelakt factory and the old water irrigation system used to bring water from the Atlas Mountains to La Palmeraie. The ride will begin at the Water Museum and end in the Medina.

How to Secure Your Spot:

We have only 45 spots available for this tour, and they will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. To secure your place, we are asking for a nominal fee of $5 USD. This amount will be returned to you in the form of a voucher, which you can use at the Pikala Café in the Medina at any time during your stay in Marrakesh. Whether you’re in the mood for a refreshing drink or a light snack, the café offers a cozy spot to relax and reflect on your experiences.

Don’t miss out on this chance to discover Marrakesh in a unique and sustainable way. Register early to ensure your spot on this exclusive tour!
